Darin Principe, APRN

Advanced Practice Registered Nurse

Darin Principe, APRN, completed his MSN from the University of Central Florida and post-graduate training in mental health and addiction from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and Texas Tech Health Science Center.  He is board-certified as both a psychiatric and family nurse practitioner with additional certification in addiction treatment.  He offers comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and medication management incorporating supportive psychotherapy in conjunction with the prescribing of medications. He has worked in primary care in rural Washington, deployment medicine for the US Army and mental health and addiction treatment of veterans at the Salt Lake City VA Health Center.

His first and primary goal is to get to know you and understand your story in order to individualize your treatment plan. As your provider, he can help you in making informed decisions regarding treatment and symptom management using the latest evidence-based recommendations. He believes that medication can be very beneficial for many mental health diagnoses, but that greater success comes from a multi-modal approach and that there are other effective tools as well, including psychotherapy, mindfulness, lifestyle changes, and nutritional supplementation.

Darin treats the following conditions:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Bipolar
  • Personality disorders- usually in conjunction with therapy
  • OCD
  • ADHD
  • PTSD

He is originally from Orlando, FL and spends his free time with family, traveling and pursuing documentary photography.
