Katie Bessette, M.S.

Clinical Psychology Extern

Katie is a 5th year doctoral student in Clinical Psychology at University of Illinois at Chicago, currently training remotely while living in Salt Lake City, Utah. She received a Bachelor’s in Psychology from Boston College and her Master’s from University of Illinois at Chicago. Her research interests focus on cognitive, developmental/familial, and biological factors involved in the onset, etiology, and progression of mood disorders. Her clinical training has focused on third-wave evidence-based therapies (such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy) for a broad range of mental health concerns, including depression, anxiety, trauma and attention difficulties. Her training also entails testing and identification of cognitive factors involved in treatment outcomes. In her clinical work, Katie particularly enjoys focusing on identification of resilience and risk factors that can be maximized for positive outcomes in youth with early-onset mental health concerns.
