Supporting Your Journey

Here, you’ll find valuable tools and information to support your journey with UCEBT. Whether you’re a new client or have been with us for some time, these resources are designed to make your experience as smooth and informed as possible.

SUDS Guide

The Subjective Units of Discomfort Scale (SUDS) is a tool commonly used in therapy to help individuals measure and understand their emotional distress in different situations.

Whether you’re managing anxiety, working through phobias, or addressing trauma, the SUDS scale provides a structured way to track your discomfort and progress.

Check out our blog on mental health, well-being, and the latest research-backed practices.

If we can do better, please let us know. Our client complaint form is available to address any concerns promptly. You can submit complaints anonymously or provide your contact information for follow-up.

We require at least 24 hours’ notice for appointment cancellations to avoid being charged the full session fee. Learn more about our cancellation policy to ensure uninterrupted access to our services.

The Utah Invisible Condition Alert Program (S.B. 148) allows individuals with qualifying physical or mental conditions to voluntarily place a decal on their driver’s license or ID card, notifying first responders of conditions that may impact communication. This program helps ensure that emergency personnel can approach situations with greater understanding and provide appropriate support.

Do you accept insurance?

Our Center operates on a direct pay model, where clients are responsible for the full payment at or before the time of service. We can provide a detailed receipt for possible out-of-network reimbursement. This approach offers multiple benefits:

  • No pre-authorization or re-authorization delays.
  • Enhanced privacy, as we do not share diagnoses or treatment data with insurance providers.
  • Personalized treatment planning, without restrictions dictated by insurance coverage rules.
  • Smaller caseloads for our clinicians, ensuring high-quality, attentive care.

Our sliding scale is a flexible fee structure based on client need. These reduced rates are available for sessions with our student doctoral trainees and post-doctoral fellows who are not yet licensed, making them ineligible for insurance reimbursement.

We match clients with doctoral students or post-docs based on your preferences and our screening process. These clinicians are highly qualified, having completed a Master’s degree and advanced training in evidence-based therapies.

Evidence-Based Therapy (EBT) includes treatments that have been rigorously tested through research and proven effective in reducing symptoms and improving quality of life. These therapies involve:

  • An initial assessment to identify client needs.
  • Structured sessions with skills training and personalized exercises.
  • Outcome tracking to measure progress. EBT has a clear target, a timeline for treatment, and a goal of enabling clients to thrive without long-term therapy.

Yes, we sometimes have waitlists due to high demand and our commitment to maintaining high standards in client care. Wait times vary depending on the season, provider availability, and client preferences.

Our clinicians manage smaller caseloads to prioritize quality care. This means spending time in consultation, research, and reflective practice, ensuring each treatment plan is tailored for optimal results.

Due to our thorough assessment and treatment matching process, we are unable to respond to urgent crisis needs. For crisis situations, we recommend contacting the National Crisis Hotline at 1-800-273-8255, the University Mobile Crisis Outreach Team, or your local Emergency Room.

At UCEBT, we prioritize data-informed, evidence-based care. Our therapists contribute to and engage with scientific research, use data to track therapy progress, and focus on providing lasting benefits through well-structured, empirically supported treatments.

All UCEBT therapists hold a Master’s degree at minimum, with many holding doctorates. They have also completed extensive training in evidence-based therapies. You can learn more about our team on the Primary Staff page.
