[CEU] Vicarious Resilience: Learning from and Growing with our Clients
Presenter: Shelle Welty, PsyD
Cost: Free
CEUs: 1.0 CEU approved by UPA and NASW-UT
About the presentation:
Vicarious resilience is a concept that was initially introduced almost 15 years ago out of the experiences of psychologists working with victims of torture and politically motivated violence. Vicarious resilience describes the positive, transformative process experienced by therapists in response to witnessing client trauma survivors’ own resiliency. Therapists can benefit from an increased awareness of the ways in which they can heal and grow along with their clients, engaging in an intentional process that can prolong and enrich their work with trauma.
About the presenter:
Shelle Welty, PsyD is the Program Director of the Trauma, Stress, and Resilience program at UCEBT. She specializes in the treatment of trauma for both complex and single-incident traumatic exposures, using a variety of modalities.
