Dearest friends, clients, and colleagues,

As of June 7th, 2021, UCEBT has officially reopened its doors to in person clients. Our staff will continue to offer a hybrid of telehealth and in person services as best supports their practice. The opportunity to meet long term clients in person for the first time and see others again after over a year has been both a meaningful and evocative experience. We've missed you!

As we return to offering in person psychotherapy, we wish to prioritize evidence-based health practices with the intention of finding a middle path between physical health and safety and effective delivery of mental health services. With this in mind, we are pleased to announce the option for clients with proof of double vaccination to choose to remove their masks while in therapy rooms with their clinician.

Your clinician will inquire about your preferences and will respect your wishes with regards to delivery of therapy with or without a mask. We will continue the use of masks in our waiting room and common areas as an acknowledgment of the needs of our clients who may be at ongoing elevated risk of contracting COVID, as well as our child clients for whom vaccination is not possible at this time.

For our current clients, an updated in person disclosure form will be emailed shortly for your signature. Should you choose to maintain telehealth only sessions or should any questions or concerns arise regarding the disclosure, please feel free to defer signature until you have had any concerns addressed by your therapist or our desk staff. We value your feedback on ways in which we can improve your experience of in person or telehealth sessions.

This summer we will monitor the impact of this transition on our staff and clients and review the latest guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and the American Psychological Association. We look forward to eventually resuming in person groups, professional trainings, and outreach events and will keep you updated on our offerings as they arise.

Warm wishes for a mindful reentry to you and your loved ones.

With gratitude,

Robin Lange, Ph.D

.Chief Executive Officer

Licensed Clinical Psychologist

What's the difference between Psychoeducational Evaluations at UCEBT vs. through the school district?

  1. The primary focus of the school district’s evaluation is to determine eligibility for special education services.  The data obtained through these evaluations is used by a school-based team to determine eligibility for special education services as defined by federal law.
  2. A psychoeducational evaluation offered through the school district is considered an “educational classification” and not a medical diagnosis.
  3. Psychoeducational evaluations through UCEBT determine specific clinical diagnoses.
  4. Psychoeducational evaluations at UCEBT go beyond the scope of academic skills and examine other areas that may be impacting academic functioning.
  5. Evaluations conducted by UCEBT include recommendations and referrals for services that are both relevant to you or your child’s academic needs and related to other resources that may be helpful.

Testing for college students

Colleges and Universities may request updated testing that may not have been completed during the client’s high school years. UCEBT is happy to provide clients with evaluations of their current needs prior to and during the client’s college or university years.

Using UCEBT's evaluations in school

Diagnoses and intervention recommendations can be used by a school-based team to determine eligibility for special education services or a 504 plan. Your assessment clinician at UCEBT can coordinate with school officials to develop education plans based on results of testing.
